Ba-rock On!

If you read my November blog, Splatters of the Heart: Obama -- "He's Brown", you know that my 6 year-old is a huge Obama fan. Inaguration day was a big deal around here.

As I was celebrating with my Facebook friends online (I know, get a life, right? We'll discuss Fb addiction in a separate post) I came across the words, "Barock On!" This was of course, insanely appealing to a family with music, writing, and guitar hero coursing through its veins.

I could not resist writing the words on our white board just for fun. My son later erased them and drew in his own phonetic interpretation of the sentiment.

Have I mentioned that I love my kids?

I'm considering putting the masterpiece on a t-shirt. When it’s ridiculously popular, you can say you saw it here first. ;)

People Watching

I am an introvert, I confess. I'm an IFNP on the Myers-Briggs and it suits me well. I cringe at the word "mingle." I would much rather be up in front of the crowd than forced to walk through it making pseudo-conversation. Yeck. Dental visits are more appealing to me. Seriously. Just me and the dentist -- I know his name, we share a common purpose, most of the time I don't have to say a word -- it's a beautiful thing.

Not that I don't enjoy meeting people, I truly do. I'm a friendly person. I might even strike up a conversation with you at the bookstore or the coffee shop. I simply prefer one-on-one conversation. I like to get to know someone and exchange more than name and occupational data if possible.

That being said, I do quite a bit of people watching. I love observing humanity. Where else would I get my writing material? Old people, young people, fat people, thin people, parents, children, men, women (some whom I can't identify), anyone and everyone; people fascinate me.

Babies and children I find particularly interesting. Studying how they see the world helps me to see it differently. I have yet to read the book "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind," but the concept pops into my head every time I glimpse little ones learning about their world. Toddlers are stellar to watch. Looking at things anew -- exploring, expressing, discovering; no preconceived notions or judgments, they are a site to behold.

I happened across this gorgeous little red-haired girl yesterday who was doing exactly that -- discovering her world. It was the cutest thing. My heart nearly leapt out of my chest wanting to capture the moment. Graciously, the parents granted me permission to take a photo.

May we all view the world around us with such beginner's eyes. See the beauty and share the wonder.

The Do Not Call Girl

Most of the time I have a very positive outlook on life -- very LOA, keeping the good vibes going, and generally enjoying myself.

And then there's dating. Which like using a public restroom, I would probably avoid at all costs if it weren't an absolute necessity. Last week the whole matter of relationships caused me to lose my perspective, my good vibes, and some much needed sleep. I was ticked.

So, I took out all of my law of attraction books, staked them neatly in a pile, placed them where I could not see them, and filmed a video...just to let the boys know which of them should NOT be calling me. (No worries, all names were withheld to protect the guilty.)

Enjoy.

P.S.
I am feeling much better now and have taken the books out again. I have also regained faith that there is indeed a good man out there who doesn’t fall under one of those categories. If you happen to run into him, please give him my number.

Many Smiles,

Monica
